Week 9

Downloadable audio
Today I looked at Project Gutenberg. It has alot of older literary works. Most of them are no longer copyrighted in the US so they can be downloaded for free at this site. Some titles I looked at are: The North Pole, The Real Mother Goose and The Raven.
The formatting of the downloads are different from book to book. Project Gutenberg is a great reference for all, but I can especially see it being used for locating special reading assignments for high school and college students.

Week 5: Play Week

I went to Meez and created a beautiful and fashionable and rich young lady. Too many options for myself, but I guess many would enjoy. Very time consuming.
The Library Thing, you can enter everything you have read and find others that have the same interests in reading as yourself. What a resource for everyone, no matter what subject. This site will be very helpful for some of our library patrons.

I found Rollyo a fast, easy way to create personal search engines. With Rollyo, I could easily create my own custom search engines.

Week 4: RSS and Newsreaders

RSS feeds come in 7 different types. RSS means Really Simple Syndication, a format for distributing and gathering content from sources across the Web, including newspapers, magazines, and blogs. WOW! I see Wired, Slashdot and alot of personal web logs. Pretty interesting. It is amazing to see what is out there. MERLIN -Maryland's Essential Resource for Library Information Networks, how cool is that.
